Our Panelists:

Rachel Olson
President and Founding Director of Firelight Group

Rachel has a PhD in Anthropology. Today she is the president of Firelight Group, the lead of the Traditional Knowledge and Use Study team, and the lead on Health-related projects. She has been a researcher in First Nation communities since 1998, working on various projects, from oral history, traditional land use and natural resource management to First Nations health issues.

 

Kim Duff
Independent Consultant & Business Owner

Kim has a PhD in English Literature and today works as an independent consultant and small business owner. She has been able to merge her academic background with the business acumen learned through more than 15 years in the corporate world, including roles focused on market analysis, vendor management, digital transformation, and strategic business development in Europe / US / Asia.

 

Heather Ladd
Freelancer Editor, Creative Consultant and Guest Lecturer

Heather has a PhD in English, and after spending many years in academia, currently works as a freelance editor, creative consultant, and guest lecturer. She recently left her faculty position to relocate to Vancouver to join her spouse. She has been hired to give substantive feedback on original fiction and non-fiction, write and deliver online talks, and copyedit documents for clients in the private sector. Her experience as an educator and researcher allows her to provide services for a select clientele and work on a diverse range of projects. Though she isn’t necessarily planning on remaining a freelancer long-term, she enjoys running a small business that she can scale up when needed.
