Get 1:1 support from the Arts Amplifier team

The Arts Amplifier offers 1:1 consultations for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the Faculty of Arts. Our team can provide support on the following:

We work with you to review a draft application, build a budget, identify available grants, or offer grant planning support. We offer support for all non-research grants (i.e. non-SSHRC grants). When registering for an appointment, please indicate the following:

A. If you have identified a grant:

  • A brief description of support needed (i.e. a specific grant component or section of an application, feedback on a draft, guidance in preparing a budget overview, etc.)
  • The name of the grant you are applying to (with a link, if possible) and the expected grant deadline.
  • The names of any team members who will be joining the consultation.
  • If you are seeking feedback on a draft, please send your materials to arts.amplifier@ubc.ca

B. If you have not identified a grant:

  • A brief project description you're looking to support
  • Any potential grants you have identified
  • The names of any team members who will be joining the consultation

Would you like to design your own internship with a community partner organization? Are you looking for short-term work experiences to develop a certain skill or work in a particular sector? We can help you identify and apply for a work-integrated learning opportunities. When registering for an appointment, please indicate the following:

  • Any opportunities you have identified or are currently applying to
  • Sectors or organizations of interest
  • Your program status (MA, PhD, or Postdoc), year of study, and department
  • Citizenship status (Canadian, Permanent Resident, Person with Refugee Status, or International--this impacts eligibility for certain positions)
  • If you want feedback on a current application, send your materials to arts.amplifier@ubc.ca

Does the idea of working off-campus or with a community partner to develop a project as part of your academic work intrigue you?  We can help you brainstorm ideas, identify available resources, and support your project planning and development. When registering for an appointment, please indicate the following:

  • A brief description of your idea or project, including its stage of development
  • A brief description of your professional goals and the kind of support you're seeking
  • Any resources you have already accessed
