Collaborative Cohort Projects

At the Arts Amplifier, we know interdisciplinary work can be rewarding and enriching. Our Collaborative Cohort Projects offer Arts grad students an opportunity to work with other grad students from across the Faculty and apply their expertise in an off-campus work experience.

How does it work?

The Arts Amplifier works with community partners to design projects suitable to the skills and interests of Arts graduate students. Students apply to join a project team and the team works closely with their community partner to execute the work. In the past, we have partnered with museums, non-profit organizations, small businesses, and more.

What does it look like?

  1. CCPs take place each year during the summer term, kicking off in May and running through August.
  2. Students divide the work according to each team member’s respective skills and interests.
  3. Each student puts in 60 hours of work that can be scheduled flexibly, with some consideration of deadlines for our partner organizations.
  4. Students meet regularly with their partner organization and Arts Amplifier staff also provide ongoing mentorship and support.
  5. Students each receive an $1800 stipend paid by the Arts Amplifier at the end of the project.

What kind of work do student teams typically take on?

  • Conducting an environmental scan on a particular question
  • Putting together a literature review on a topic
  • Building teaching materials to support a campaign, program, or workshop series
  • Designing materials for the web
  • Writing exhibition materials or components of grant applications
